Goodwin’s Gaming Practice Draws a Full House in Vegas Conferences

Goodwin Procter sponsored C5’s 3rd Annual Forum on U.S. Online Gaming Law which focused specifically on online gaming regulation and regulatory compliance. Bob Crawford, counsel and co-chair of Goodwin’s Gaming, Gambling & Sweepstakes Practice, served as moderator for the “Social Gaming: Balancing The Commercial Opportunities Against the Regulatory Gray Area of Online Gaming’s Fastest Growing Area”session.

Goodwin partner Dave Apfel, counsel Abim Thomas and Crawford attended the Goodwin-sponsored Global Gaming Expo (G2E), the world’s largest gaming conference where gaming representatives showcase the latest products and learn about the cutting-edge issues. The firm hosted the CEO Roundtable, which was one of the best-attended sessions of the conference and included key targets and clients of this practice.  Ed Glazer, a partner in Goodwin’s Tax Practice and its Real Estate, REITs & Real Estate Capital Markets Practice, spoke on a panel with Goldman Sachs titled “REITs & Spinoffs: The Structure of Future Gaming Companies.”

In conjunction with the G2E conference, the firm hosted an invitation-only event with AIG and Aon titled “Gaming Risks Roundtable: Risk Management and Legal Perspectives.”  This event featured three panels and focused on areas of interest to brick-and-mortar casinos and online gaming operators, as well as companies supporting the casino industry.

The first panel featured Goodwin partner Carl Metzger and was titled “D&O Insurance Perspectives: Changes in the Marketplace and Effects on Gaming Companies Purchasing Decisions.”  The second panel featured Goodwin partner Stuart Cable and was titled “Mergers and Acquisitions: Trends in Litigation and Effects on the Gaming Industry.”  And the third panel featured Goodwin partner Brenda Sharton and Apfel as the moderator and was titled “Gaming Customer Privacy and Data Breach Crisis Management.”
