Thomas_EAbim_L-12-676-578The National Council of Legislators from Gaming States (NCLGS) is hosting their Summer Meeting in Boston July 29-31. NCLGS is the only organization of state lawmakers that meets on a regular basis to discuss issues relating to gaming. Members of NCLGS chair or are members of committees responsible for the regulation of gaming in their state legislative houses. NCLGS does not promote or oppose gaming but is primarily concerned with the proper regulation of the industry. NCLGS is a proactive participant in educating legislators on gaming issues, in the development of public policy related to state-authorized gaming, and, where consensus exists, in representing the states before Congress and the executive branch of the federal government on states’ rights issues relating to gaming.

Abim Thomas, a counsel in the firm’s Litigation Department and a member of its White Collar Crime and Government Investigations, Securities Litigation, and Gaming, Gambling & Sweepstakes Practices, will speak at the 2016 Summer Meeting on the panel, “Massachusetts Case Study: Lessons Learned from Gaming’s Newest Entrant.” Joining her will be Paul DeBole, Assistant Professor of Political Science, Lasell College and Stephen Crosby, Chair, Massachusetts Gaming Commission. Representative Brian Dempsey, Massachusetts will moderate.
